What we Believe

God: There is only one living and true God.The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

The Bible: The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction.

Jesus: Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself the demands and necessities of human nature and identifying Himself completely with humanity yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of all people from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, partaking of the nature of God and human, and in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and humanity.

Mankind: Mankind was created by the special act of God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning mankind was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By free choice mankind sinned against God and brought sin into the human race.

Salvation: Salvation involves the redemption of the whole human race, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

The Church:  A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, committed to His teachings, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper: Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Mission Statement

Identity:

We are a real community of compassionate Jesus followers.

Purpose:

To create an environment where people can meet God.
In Hebrews 10, the Bible places a high priority on the weekly assembling of ourselves together as believers in Jesus Christ. We know that joining yourself and your family to a community is a big decision. Here are some of the commonly asked questions regarding membership.

How do I join First Baptist Church?
You must be a Christian and baptized by Biblical immersion to become an active member of First Baptist Church. Those desiring to join our church may do so in three ways. If you are coming from another Baptist church, your membership can be moved from that church to ours. If you are a believer, but have been a member of another church, you may join by a statement of faith. Finally, you may join the church by being baptized.

What if I have never been baptized?
Before you become a member, you may wish to speak to a minister, a member, or the senior pastor about baptism. Our church believes that baptism is a scriptural act of obedience. We see both Jesus and His followers baptized throughout the Scriptures as a symbol of conversion to Christ.

May I speak with someone about your church’s doctrine and theology before I join?
We would love to speak with you concerning any questions on matters of doctrine or theology that you might have. Paul tells Titus to put a high emphasis on the understanding of theology and doctrine. We want to encourage thoughtful discussions about what we believe and why it matters to our daily lives.
